iot sabattical

The first half of 2017 I took a sabbatical to get better acquainted with iot in general.

I played around with the ESP8266, various environment sensors and Sonoff switches. Then created schematics and PCB layouts using KiCad and fabricated some printed circuit boards at OSHPark and improved my SMD soldering skills.

Installed domoticz to handle all the sensors and Sonoff switches using the MQTT protocol and Node-Red to hook it all up.

I now have a generic platform where I can compare the quality of the various temperature and humidity sensors.
